Week of March 22

My production company is named “Take Flight Studios” and the members include myself as Co-Director Screenwriter, Brandon Mayorga as Editor and Actor, Brian Rico as Co-Director, and Daisy Ramos as Storyboard Artist.  This week we figured out our roles and decided on an idea for a film.  We wanted to start of with something easy and interesting so we chose to create a horror film.  We are currently in the planning phases of our project.  The storyboard and Screenplay is coming along nicely and we should be ready to get a couple shots this weekend.

What Music Means to Me

To me, music is an expression of self.  It’s a chance to put concepts, ideas, and emotions into an audible sense rather than keep them inside.  There are things that we simply can’t put words to, but through music we can easily share something like that.  We can express anger, happiness, confusion, melancholy and everything in between.  When I’m listening to music I pick and choose parts that have a real meaning, whether it comes from the lyrics or from the instruments.  Everything depends on the connection that is built between the performer and the audience.  There is a certain feeling that comes directly from the performer in the way he or she plays, but the audience needs to take part as well to fully appreciate and understand the performer’s message.  When everything comes together, music can be an invaluable tool that can change the way people think and push an entire people towards acting on something.

Teens in high school are placed in very sociable situation whether they are ready or not.  The educational aspect of the whole thing comes second to the idea that we are surrounded by people and everyone has an opinion.  Communication plays a heavy role in every part of the day-to-day workings of school, which is why the lack of communication can have such a drastic effect on people.  School is meant to be a safe place for people to learn and spend time with peers, but when everyone around you is against you, it’s not exactly easy to get up in the morning each day and show up.  Rather than act as an escape from potential problems at home, these problems are amplified which can lead to gruesome consequences as seen in massacres such as the one at Columbine.  For us at Bell specifically, the main problem for a majority of students is caused by money.  People can’t afford to pay bills, can’t afford school supplies, can’t afford a decent meal every day.  These are things that we shouldn’t have to deal with, but they end up being a simple fact of life after a while.  Often times the stresses from home carry over to other activities, and suddenly everything, every simple task, takes a huge effort.

Post# 16 - The Most Interesting Person in the World

The most interesting person I’ve ever met has to be my teacher, Mr. Moreno.  Mr. Moreno is in his 40’s, he’s been teaching for long time and he’s seen quite a lot over the years.  Although that seems quite boring, he lives a much more interesting life outside of school, for example, what many people don’t know is that Mr. Moreno is actually an avid surfer and often goes on vacation to Hawaii to surf with his friends.  He always has some anecdote about his childhood and it’s often strange for mew and everyone else to hear about how different things were back then (even if it is just a span of 40 years.)  I never get tired of hearing his stories even if he’d already told them.  He’s just an all-around interesting person to know and talk to.
